Windows 10 domain join problem free download

New Windows 10 laptops received in. Normally I get them fully updated, ie. Three of the laptops have been fully updated and will not join the domain. Error received while joining the others is that the domain controller does not meet the version requirement for this operation.

I didn’t look at the event viewer on the PC but will. Renaming seems to have done the trick. While I have used hyphens in PC names in the past, removing it from the name seems to have done the trick. Strange development Seems the hyphen wasn’t the actual problem. Tried joining another couple computers, without hyphens, and they wouldn’t join.

Setup the join with a change in the computer name including the hyphen and they joined It sounds like an issue with the Netbios name that gets fixed when you change the computer name. Hyphens should not cause an issue. I have always done as you did, doing all updates before bothering with anything else, and the last few Windows 10 computers I’ve received have refused to join our domain until those updates that come pouring in during the setup phase have been rolled back.

Once rolled back, they all joined the domain and then applying the updates didn’t seem to cause any other problems. I’d strongly suggest you try this if you’re still seeing this issue.
