Here it is a year later, , I’m using Windows 7 64 bit, brother printer mfcdn, USB connection, and I have the same failure of control center.

Windows “printers and devices” will tell the printer to scan and receive the image, but will not send it to OCR, and is less convenient than the brother control center. The Brother help desk ran through all the options he knew, including altering the value data bit in the registry entry “enableWIA” from 0 to 1, and gave up.

EXE with reboots, with no success. He says it’s an OS problem, and I believe him. He says the regedit fix has worked on other customers with the same complaint, but not on mine.

There is a possibility that the Control Center software is incompatible with Windows 7. I suggest that you uninstall the software and install it in Windows 7 compatibility mode.
